Well for those of you who noticed, I blew it and missed posting yesterday! Ironically, when I realized this (shortly after midnight) I felt an incredible sense of relief. I felt like I’ve been really been stretching for content, and just putting up pictures as placeholders. I’ve also started working in earnest at my future career/income sources (more on that in a second) which really distracted me. I thought about continuing on anyway (which is cheating really) or starting over, but that would get tedious for everyone to read. So I’m going to have to count this one as a failure and move on to the next project. Despite that, making it half way was a learning experience. Creating good content for a blog is more work than I expected. Some of those posts took a few hours to put together (come up with ideas, editing pictures, finding links etc). In hindsight I realize it was a bigger commitment than I realized, but that’s typical of most anything you try to predict.
So after much thought, I’ve decided to start selling products on Etsy. I’m going to start with hand carved stamps – sort of obvious really, and then add products from there. I’m also working on some graphic design ideas which may end up in Etsy eventually as well. I’ve carved about 15 stamps for the store now and I’m waiting on some mounting materials so I can offer wood backed stamps as an option. I’ll share some of store photos once I get them up.
PS – The quote in the picture is by Sir Edmund Hillary and I thought it was appropriate today. Doing anything new or challenging is really about conquering yourself – fears, self doubt, discipline etc.
