For the last few months, my family have been catching up on Doctor Who on DVD. I was a huge fan of the original series as a teenager, and I looked forward to watching each episode (I think I remember some of them being over three hours long?) At the time, I only knew one other person who liked the series of even knew about it. These days I’m less of a hard core fan, but I still enjoy the series. Yesterday I found an image which I just couldn’t resist carving – the Doctor’s name. This appeared on the side of cot which the Doctor slept in as a baby from the episode A Good Man Goes to War. I love geometric designs and these circles embody mystery and hidden symbolism.
The stamp is carved on OZ cut and took about 3 hours including clean up. I took the picture below after about an hour of work.
Here is a view of the entire stamp and a print from it after I finished.
If you like this design, I also discovered a graphic designer who has created an alphabet in “Gallifreyan” which produces similar designs. Visit Brittany Goodman’s site here to see it. You would need a graphics like Illustrator to create designs, or you can hand draw them.
